I am French and I have lived in the USA for the past 24 years (my husband is American), and I experienced the same type of remark from an old gentleman when our oldest son was about 5. He used to get ear infections all the times, so I would make him wear his French “cagoule” (really cute for kids). The old man however thought that it was too light for the Buffalo (NY) weather and make a remark. I am not going to repeat what my husband told him!

These persons are just as rude to French moms as they are to foreign ones. In France, being pregnant / having a baby is like an open invitation to judge you / your attitude / your belly. People think they are allowed to touch you and ask you plenty of private questions. And when your baby is born, it’s worse. Everybody knows better than you what’s the best for your child AND LETS YOU KNOW IT. I like your style 🙂
